US Martial Arts Academy, Ltd holds a six-week Self-Defense Seminar three to four times per year. The primary goal of this course is to provide the participants (12 years of age and older) with a number of responses to common ways people are attacked or confronted. An effort will be made to expose the participants to what happens during an attack and some simple, effective ways they can respond. No prior martial arts experience is required!
Practical Self-Defense instruction really requires a significant amount of practice so that the student becomes confident in using the techniques and so familiar with the techniques that the response to an attack will become second nature, instinctive. Often, the students practice the techniques at home and return to subsequent classes with additional questions or scenarios. These are then answered, illustrated, and practiced in the class. This defensive techniques course will consist of six (6), 1 ½ hour classes over the course of six (6) weeks.
The same material will be taught in each class in the same week so students can attend any of the classes each week and learn the same material. None of the material will only appear in a single class. Techniques are introduced in one class, then repeated and practiced in the next several classes so that if a student misses one class, it will be easy to catch up. Students may attend one of the class times per week and are not limited to the same weekday for the six (6) week period.
