Grandmaster Huang taught two seminars on Sunday, October 27.   The first seminar was Short Staff Fighting techniques and the second seminar was Gong Li Quan.

Short Staff Fighting techniques were created to deal with an attacker holding a short weapon, such as a club or short staff.  However, for those students interested in Weapons Sparring at the tournament level, these techniques would also apply.

Gong Li Quan is an intermediate level form emphasizing power from the Mantis style.

Grandmaster Huang’s Kung Fu seminars – Sunday, 2013/10/27

Grandmaster Huang is offering two seminars on Sunday, October 27, 2013, here, at U.S. Martial Arts Academy, Ltd.   The first seminar, is Short Staff Fighting Techniques from 10:00 – 12:00pm and Gong Li Quan from 1:00 – 3:00pm.

Short Staff Fighting Techniques are not a form but techniques that could be used in weapons sparring competition as well as good general knowledge in self defense.  These techniques are the Chinese method of using a short staff.

Gong Li Quan is an empty hand dynamic intermediate to advanced form that emphasizes power and speed.  The name of the form translates to Ultimate Power or Supreme Power.  It would be a good form to use at tournament if practiced and mastered.

This is a wonderful opportunity to learn from Grandmaster Huang.  For the Short Staff Fighting Techniques seminar, the USMALtd student should be at a Blue Sash or higher and at least 10 years old.  For the Gong Li Quan seminar, the USMALtd student should be a Purple Sash or higher  and at least 10 years old.

The seminars will start promptly at 10am and 1:00pm.  Please arrive at least 20 minutes early.  All students must be warmed up and having stretched before lining up for Grandmaster at the beginning of the seminar.  It is extremely disrespectful to arrive late for Grandmaster.  There will be a one hour break between the seminars for lunch.  Students taking both seminars should either bring a lunch or go get lunch nearby.

Students may not video the seminars.
