Shi Fu Paul Jakubowski has been studying Tien Shan Pai Kung Fu since 1995, first, under the direction of Diane Kogelschatz-Spoor ( widow and student of the school founder, Carl Kogelschatz) and since 1999, under Grandmaster Huang, Chien-Liang. He also studied Yang style Tai Chi under Grandmaster Huang.
Shi Fu Jakubowski is the 65th Generation student of Tien Shan Pai under Grandmaster Huang. He began teaching at U.S. Martial Arts Academy, Ltd. in 1998 as an instructor. He earned his first degree Black Sash from Shi Fu Diane Kogelschatz in 1999. Shi Fu became Senior Instructor in 2004. Shi Fu Paul received his second degree Black Sash in Tien Shan Pai from Grandmaster Huang in 2005.
In 2008, he assumed ownership of U.S. Martial Arts Academy, Ltd with his wife, Maricar Jakubowski.
Shi Fu earned his third degree Black Sash from Grandmaster Huang in 2008. He became a Disciple of Grandmaster Huang in December of 2008. Mr. Jakubowski trained for and earned his certification as one of The World Kuo Shu Federation (TWKSF) International Referee “B”. In 2013, he received his 5th Tuan in The World Kuo Shu Federation (5th Degree). Shi Fu Paul earned his 4th degree in Tien Shan Pai from Grandmaster Huang in 2018.
He is actively involved in the U.S. Kuo Shu Federation, having assisted in the annual U.S. International Kuo Shu Championship Tournament in a variety of capacities since 1997, ranging from assisting in the competion rings, to Assistant Director, Ring Coordinator, Prep Area Coordinator, Floor Coordinator, and Head of Security. As a member of the U.S. Kuo Shu Federation, the World Kuo Shu Federation, and the International Tien Shan Pai Association, he meets and trains with members from other U.S. and international schools.
