Self-Defense Seminar Begins Mid May 2015

Self-Defense Seminar Begins Mid May 2015

US Martial Arts Academy, Ltd will be holding a four-week Self-Defense Seminar beginning Tuesday, May 19th.  The course will consist of four (4), 1 ½ hour classes over the course of four (4) weeks.

The primary goal of this course is to provide the participants (12 years of age and older) with a number of responses to common ways people are attacked or confronted.  An effort will be made to expose the participants to what happens during an attack and some simple, effective ways they can respond.  No prior martial arts experience is required!

The same material will be taught in each class each week so you can attend any of the classes each week and learn the same material.  None of the material will only appear in a single class.  We will introduce something in one class, then repeat and practice it in the next several classes so if you miss one class, it will be easy to catch up.  Students may one of the following class times per week and are not limited to the same weekday for the four (4) week period.

Class times each week will be as follows:

o  Tuesdays: 6:30 to 8:00pm

o  Wednesdays: 7:00 to 8:30pm

o  Thursdays: 6:30 to 8:00pm

The course will consist of four (4), 1 ½ hour classes over the course of four (4) weeks.  The cost will be $100.  All participants must be registered, sign a waiver, and payment must be received, prior to the start of the class.  Participants should wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes (sweat pants, T-shirts, athletic shoes, etc.) and be prepared for a moderate work out.

Reminder – Grandmaster’s Spring 2014 Seminars – June 8th

Reminder – Grandmaster’s Spring 2014 Seminars – June 8th

Don’t forget, Sunday, June 8, 2014, Grandmaster Huang, world-wide leader of Tien Shan Pai, will be teaching two seminars for USMALtd students.  This is a rare chance to learn techniques and a form we do not teach at USMALtd directly from Grandmaster Huang.

The 10:00 to 12:00pm seminar is the Qin Na – Joint Locking Seminar.  Our style of Kung Fu teaches how to control an attacker by bending a person’s joints – wrist, elbow, shoulder, etc. – with little effort.  While we teach the basic set of Qin Na techniques, Grandmaster Huang teaches different ones and shows how you can apply the basic Qin Nas in different ways. This seminar is intended for Orange Belts/Sashes, ages 10 and up.

The 1:00 to 3:00pm seminar is the Black Tiger Fist There are many different empty hand forms besides the ones we learn here at USMALtd.  This is another, traditional Kung Fu form with punch/kick combinations, jump kicks, breaks and other techniques at the intermediate to advanced level.  Since we do not teach this form as part of our curriculum, this is a rare chance to learn something most students at our school don’t know.  This seminar is intended for Blue Belts/Sashes, ages 10 and up.

If you are interested and have not registered yet, please call (410) – 561 – 9882.
